Nasiruddin Mahmud

Prince Nasiruddin Mahmud was the son of Sultan Shamsuddin Iltutmish. He was the governor of Oudh. Nasiruddin Mahmud spearheaded an invasion against Ghiyas-ud-din Iwaz Khilji, the sultan of Bengal. After Ghiyas-ud-din Iwaz Khilji had been defeated Nasiruddin Mahmud became the governor of Bengal. He received the title Malik-us-Sharq (Lord of the east) from Sultan Iltutmish. After ruling one and a half years, Nasiruddin Mahmud died in 1229.
